How to live stream YouTube or Ustream from a raspberry pi.
I will put a link to the Image file when I get it set up on my website.
Just type the commands below. I did this all in PuTTY using SSH.
So what we need to do is cross compile FFMPEG for the Raspberry Pi. ( I will just put a Image on my website for people to just down load a working image if people want it.

sudo raspi-config
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
sudo apt-get clean
First you need to install FFMPEG I used the website below.
http://www.jeffreythompson.org/blog/2014/11/13/installing-ffmpeg-for-raspberry-pi/

Installing FFMPEG for Raspberry Pi
INSTALL H264 SUPPORT
Run the following commands, one at a time.
1 cd /usr/src
2 git clone git://git.videolan.org/x264
3 cd x264
4 ./configure –host=arm-unknown-linux-gnueabi –enable-static –disable-opencl
5 make
6 sudo make install

1. INSTALL OTHER LIBRARIES/FORMATS
Anything else you would like to install should be done now, before compiling FFMPEG. This includes MP3, AAC, etc.

2. INSTALL FFMPEG
Add lines similar to the –enable-libx264 for anything else installed above. This may take a REALLY long time, so be patient.
1 cd /usr/src
2 git clone git://source.ffmpeg.org/ffmpeg.git
3 cd ffmpeg
4 sudo ./configure –arch=armel –target-os=linux –enable-gpl –enable-libx264 –enable-nonfree
5 make
6 sudo make install

Note if you have a Model B+ you can use make -j4 instead of just make to take advantage of all four cores!

To start the live stream for Youtube. Us this command line

raspivid -o – -t 0 -vf -hf -fps 30 -b 6000000 | ffmpeg -re -ar 44100 -ac 2 -acodec pcm_s16le -f s16le -ac 2 -i /dev/zero -f h264 -i – -vcodec copy -acodec aac -ab 128k -g 50 -strict experimental -f flv rtmp://a.rtmp.youtube.com/live2/Put your stream key here
To start it for Ustream us find out your rtmp server url and stream id here.
https://support.ustream.tv/hc/en-us/articles/207851987-How-to-stream-to-Ustream-using-Wirecast-FMLE-TriCaster-or-any-RTMP-encoder

Personally I use Morse code, But this limits me in two ways.

1. I need a electronic medium to transmit over great distances.
2. The person receiving the message needs to know Morse code.

With his you could easily use a light or any noise maker.

Here is the Wikipedia page on it.

Here is a link to it over at Survival Tek http://survivaltek.com/?p=4617

I hade to make the Baofeng radio to TNC /Sound Card cable because the Baofeng is designed to key up the radio when the Grounds of the Speaker and microphone are shorted. This presented a problem when using a USB sound card for a interface. the universal ground what shorting the two leads. so we need to make a ground loop isolator and set the radio to VOX. not it words for the SVXLink on the Raspberry Pi Repeater / Echolink Node.

In the past I have just used spark plugs too.

How it works:
Once the air has ionized, it becomes a conductor. And the dielectric breakdown of the air makes it a conductor and will pass the static charge/lightning strike to ground. Its kind of a one shot deal and it’s better than nothing. Its mostly for the static build up on the wire in the storm. Sharpened bolt would be better
________________________________________________________________
Breakdown Voltage/Dielectric Strength:
The breakdown voltage for a substance or dielectric is the minimum voltage or potential difference between two ends of a substance required to cause an electric breakdown.
Dielectric Strength of a substance is the total potential difference between the two points of a substance per unit thickness of the medium; up to which the substance can withstand the electric field or up to which no Electric breakdown occurs in the substance. The dielectric strength is given by the potential gradient necessary to cause breakdown of an insulator or substance.
The standard unit of Dielectric Strength is Volt per Meter ( V/M ), a unit which is mostly used is kiloVolt per millimeter (kV/mm).
Dielectric Strength of Air:
The dielectric strength of Air is 3kV/mm, Which means that is two electrodes are placed one millimeter away from each other in air, then the air normally acts as a Insulator until the voltage between the electrodes reaches 3 kilovolts or 3000 volts, after which the air starts behaving as a good conductor which causes sparks and fire.

How to Solder copper wire to aluminum foil.

I will be making some disposable variable capacitors later today for some magnetic loop antennas.
This is also a useful technique to solder copper braid to an antenna.

I think you can use any oil. the important thing to remember is keeping Oxygen form the foil. You don’t want it to oxidize before you get the solder down.

I want to make a personal note here: Its important to get your ham license before the S.H.T.F. Its very unlikely you will be able to use ham equipment with out the proper knowledge or experience to deal with RFI or Propagation. Check out the source link below for more info and frequencies.
